Critical Illnesses. If an Insured Person is diagnosed to be suffering from a Critical Illness (as listed below) while the Policy is in force as a first incidence the Policy will automatically extend for a period of 2 Policy Years. For the purpose of this Policy, Critical Illness shall mean any Illness, medical event or Surgical Procedure as specifically defined below whose signs or symptoms first commence at least 90 days after the Inception of Policy Period. If such Critical Illness is acquired as a result of a pre-existing condition then the standard waiting periods for pre-existing diseases shall apply.

  • Critical Illness Three (3) days per year, with pay, shall be granted in the case of a critical illness or accident to a member of the employee's immediate family as defined in Section 9.4.2. A statement by the physician verifying the need for the employee to be present with the immediate family member shall be attached to the absence form.

  • Illness injury, or pregnancy-related condition of a member of the employee’s immediate family where the employee’s presence is reasonably necessary for the health and welfare of the employee or affected family member;
