Common use of Death in Employee’s Immediate Family Clause in Contracts

Death in Employee’s Immediate Family. Sick leave up to ten (10) days in any one instance may be claimed and taken for a death in the immediate family, or to attend the funeral of a member of the employee’s family, which shall include the following relatives: Any relative living in the employee’s household, as well as the employee’s wife, husband, state registered domestic partner, parent, grandparent, brother, sister, children of the employee, grandchild, aunt, uncle, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in- law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and step children. The Employer may extend such sick leave upon reasonable request.
