Definition of Layoff. Layoff shall be defined as an involuntary separation from employment, an involuntary reduction that changes an employee’s benefit status, or an involuntary aggregate reduction in employees’ FTE status on a unit of .5 FTE or more, for an indefinite period of time. 20.1.1 Employees whose FTE status is reduced without constituting a layoff will be notified of the pending action at least fifteen (15) calendar days before the effective date.
