Director of Human Resources or Designee. If the grievant and representative wish to appeal the appointing authority's decision, the grievant may do so in writing to the Director of Human Resources or designee within ten (10) working days after the date of the appointing authority's decision. The Director of Human Resources or designee shall conduct such meeting(s), informal hearings and/or investigations as are appropriate in their judgment and deliver to the grievant a written decision within twenty (20) working days. If the grievance is denied, the reasons for the denial shall be included in the response.

Director of Human Resources or Designee. If the division director's answer is unsatisfactory, the Union may request a Step 2 meeting, in writing, with the Director of Human Resources or designee within fifteen (15) working days of the division director's disposition or the grievance shall be considered dropped. A meeting between the Director of Human Resources and the Union shall be arranged within fifteen (15) working days of receipt of a grievance by the Director of Human Resources unless mutually extended, in writing. The Union may meet for fifteen (15) minutes immediately prior to the joint meeting.
