Common use of E-mail, Fax Machines, the Internet, and Intranets Clause in Contracts

E-mail, Fax Machines, the Internet, and Intranets. The Union and employees will not use state-owned or operated e-mail, fax machines, the Internet, or intranets to communicate with one another regarding internal union business. However, employees may use state-owned e-mail to request and arrange union representation. In addition, shop stewards may use state owned/operated equipment to communicate with the Union, other employees and/or the Employer for the exclusive purpose of administration of this Agreement. Such use will: 1. Result in little or no cost to the Employer; 2. Be brief in duration and frequency; 3. Not interfere with the performance of their official duties; 4. Not distract from the conduct of state business; 5. Not disrupt other state employees and not obligate other employees to make a personal use of state resources; and 6. Not compromise the security or integrity of state information or software.
