Common use of Educational and Training Leaves Clause in Contracts

Educational and Training Leaves. ‌ (a) When the Commission requires an employee to upgrade their skills or qualifications (see Clause 7.8 Upgrading Qualifications during regular working hours, they will be considered to be on leave of absence with pay for the duration of the course and examination periods. (b) Any regular employee, who has completed their probationary period, may apply in writing for a leave of absence with pay of up to two weeks' duration to take educational or training courses which are directly related to their ability to perform their present job, or which relate to their future growth and/or promotional prospects within the Commission. Such leave will be granted, provided that the application includes sufficient advance notice and that operational requirements can be covered. Only one such leave will be granted to an employee per year. (c) Any regular employee, who has completed three years continuous service, may apply in writing for a leave of absence without pay of up to four months duration to take educational or training courses of their choosing. Such leave will be granted, provided that the application includes sufficient advance notice and that operational requirements can be covered. Only one such leave will be granted to an employee per year.
