Common use of Eligibility and Allowance Clause in Contracts

Eligibility and Allowance. Every employee shall be eligible for paid vacation time after the completion of the first six (6) months of the eighteen (18) month probationary period. Employees shall start to earn vacation allowance as of their date of hire. Vacation allowances shall be earned annually, based on the following schedule: Length of Continuous Service Working Days Vacation Per Year Less than 5 years 10 days At least 5 years but less than 10 15 days At least 10 years but less than 20 20 days At least 20 years 25 days Employees shall earn vacation allowances for any month in which they receive compensation for more than one hundred twenty (120) hours of work. The amount of an employee’s accumulated vacation leave above five (5) days may be used for personal business in amounts and at times designated by the employee and approved by the Chief of Police or his designee.
