Common use of Eligibility for Unpaid Parental Leave Clause in Contracts

Eligibility for Unpaid Parental Leave. On receipt of appropriate documentation of the birth or adoption of a child, the University will grant sixty-one (61) weeks of unpaid parental leave per pregnancy or placement to all Regular Full-Time Members or sixty-three (63) weeks of parental leave for those Members who did not take pregnancy leave. The leave will normally be continuous with the paid parental leave. It will begin no later than fifty-two (52) weeks after the child comes into parental care. (This leave is available to both parents, and when added to the paid parental leave period, would enable the parents themselves to provide the first year of care for their child or children.
