Emergency Closing of Schools. 1. The Superintendent or designee may authorize the temporary closing of schools on days because of disease, epidemic, hazardous weather conditions, damage to a school building or other temporary circumstances due to utility failure rendering the building unfit for school use. a. When schools are closed due to an emergency, which would jeopardize the health, safety and welfare of students; an employee who is not required to be present will be paid for that day at regular straight time rate, which will not be included in overtime calculations. This provision applies during the times when school is in normal session and pupils are scheduled for attendance. b. In case of doubt as to whether or not an employee should be on duty, or in case of inability to report for duty, the employee should contact his/her immediate supervisor. 2. Payment of personnel for time lost due to Emergency Closing: Support personnel are paid upon recommendation of the Superintendent or designee.
