Common use of Emergency Suspensions of Work Clause in Contracts

Emergency Suspensions of Work. (a) In all cases of potential Layoff due to extraordinary conditions, every effort shall be made to share the remaining work amongst all the Employees within appropriate classifications prior to steps being taken to activate a Layoff. (b) Except in cases of emergency (as determined by the Board), when Layoffs occur as a result of weather conditions, no Employee will work overtime if such work can be performed by an Employee who has been Laid-off under this Section 14.07. (c) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Agreement, in cases of inclement weather, strikes, lock-outs or other circumstances beyond the control of the Board, the Board may temporarily suspend work without notice.
