Common use of Exhaustion of Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Exhaustion of Sick Leave. Employees who are eligible for sick leave as provided in Section 11.2 ofthe Agreement, but who have exhausted all of their accumulated sick leave, shall be granted an unpaid sick leave for the duration of their illness or injury. Any such unpaid sick leave must be requested in writing by the employee at the time sick leave is exhausted. The employee may be required to waive any right to immediate reinstatement.During such unpaid sick leave, the City may also order a physical examination as provided in Section 11.2(b) above. Any employee's rightto unpaid sick leave shall be terminated if they accept remunerative employment elsewhere during such leave. The provisions of Section 11.7and 11.8 shall likewise be applicable to unpaid sick leave granted pursuant to this Section.
