Advance Sick Leave. After exhaustion of all paid leave, a permanent employee may be granted advance additional sick leave upon request and with the approval of the County Superintendent of Schools. The advance sick leave will not exceed the subsequent year's earned sick leave.
Advance Sick Leave. The City Manager may grant advance sick leave to an employee if the employee has an insufficient balance of accrued sick leave time, the City Manager deems it appropriate under the circumstances, and City Council authorizes the grant of advance sick leave.
Advance Sick Leave. (a) No sick leave in excess of the leave accumulated to the employee's credit may be granted unless approved by the Commissioner of Administrative Services. Such authorization shall be granted only in cases involving extended periods of illness or injury. In determining whether or not to request an advance of sick leave, the appointing authority shall consider the following facts:
(1) The length of state service of the employee;
(2) The classification of the employee;
(3) The sick leave record of the employee for the current and for the four preceding calendar years;
(4) A medical certificate which shall be on the prescribed form and which shall include the nature of the illness, the prognosis, and the probable date when the employee will return to work;
(5) And any other relevant material.
(b) No advance of sick leave may be authorized unless the employee submits a written request and has first exhausted all accrual to his/her credit for sick leave, personal leave, earned time and for vacation leave, including current accruals. No advance of sick leave may be granted unless an employee has completed at least five years of full-time work service. If approved, such extension shall be on the basis of one day at full pay for each completed year of full-time work service. In no case shall advanced sick leave exceed thirty days at full pay. If denied, the employee shall receive a written statement of the reasons for such denial. Any dispute arising from said denial shall be grievable through Step III of the grievance procedure.
(c) Any such advanced sick leave as may be granted by the Commissioner of Administrative Services or designee shall be repaid by a charge against such sick leave as the employee may subsequently accrue. Upon the employee’s return to duty, one-half of the employee’s monthly sick leave accrual shall be deducted for the re-payment of the advanced sick leave, i.e. if an employee would otherwise accrue ten (10) hours of sick leave for a month, the employee shall be granted five (5) hours of sick leave and the other five (5) hours shall be applied to the amount of advanced sick leave owed.
Advance Sick Leave. Advanced sick leave may be granted to employees who meet the necessary sick leave credits upon approval by the City Manager and the Employee’s department and/or division head. Eligibility would depend upon the employee’s effort to utilize all other earned credits including, but not limited to, earned vacation leave.
Advance Sick Leave a. Advance sick leave, not to exceed four work-weeks, may be granted by the Town Manager to regular employees after the first six months of employment in cases of serious disability or illness when it is to the advantage of the Town to do so.
b. Requests for advance sick leave shall be submitted in writing stating the circumstances and the need for such leave, the time and date when the accrued sick leave will be exhausted, the amount of advance sick leave requested, and the date to which such leave will extend.
c. Employees who receive advance sick leave shall pay back all days received at one-half of the rate of monthly accrual.
d. To be eligible for advance sick leave, employees must exhaust all available sick, personal and vacation leave.
Advance Sick Leave. Employees can request advance sick leave. Such requests must meet the following requirements:
a. all accumulated sick leave has been used
b. the employee will provide a written statement signed by a licensed medical practitioner that specifies when the employee will be able to return to duty and the date when the employee will be able to resume full duty (if these dates are different).
c. based on a review of such a request, the EMPLOYER may advance sick leave up to a maximum of thirty (30) days for employees whose scheduled tour of duty is 80 hours per biweekly pay period, or 432 hours for an employee on a 144-hour schedule in accordance with applicable regulations. Employees may request to use annual leave or leave without pay in lieu of using sick leave, or to be a participant in the Leave Transfer Program.
Advance Sick Leave. Each member of the Fire Department shall have the right to use twenty-four (24) hours of sick leave in advance of the accrual of the right to such leave, but only if such member has used all accrued sick leave and, further provided, that said advanced sick leave shall be subtracted from future sick leave accrued.
Advance Sick Leave. Sick leave shall not be allowed in advance of being earned. The University pays employees who have exhausted their sick leave credit and are unable to return to work, any unused vacation credits. When an illness, injury, or disability has used the employee's total sick leave and vacation credit, the employee shall be removed from the payroll until such time as work is resumed or an approved leave of absence is granted.
Advance Sick Leave. Employee’s can request advance sick leave. Such requests must meet the following requirements:
a. all accumulated sick leave has been used
b. the employee will provide a written statement signed by a licensed medical practitioner that specifies when the employee will be able to return to duty and the date when the employee will be able to resume full duty (if these dates are different).
c. based on a review of such a request, the Employer may advance sick leave up to a maximum of two hundred and forty (240) hours in accordance with applicable regulations. Employees may request to use annual leave, leave without pay, or to be a participant in the Leave Transfer Program in lieu of using sick leave.
Advance Sick Leave. The head of a department may request that an employee be given an advance of sick leave, not to exceed thirty (30) days, provided said employee has been a satisfactory employee of the Company for a period of at least one (1) year. The request shall be in writing and shall offer adequate justification for the request. The General Manager may authorize the advancement provided there is reasonable chance that the employee will be able to offset the advance by future accruals. Any employee who is indebted to the Company for sick leave advancement but not accrued at the time of his separation shall whenever possible have his final pay deducted sufficiently to offset the indebtedness.
