Extended Absence. (April, 2021) If the absence of the employee extends beyond the limit of two (2) consecutive workdays, a statement from the attending physician may be required before sick leave is granted. If an employee is absent two (2) or more days and does not call in to provide notice of absence, this action will be considered job abandonment and voluntary termination by the employee. Prior to returning to work, employees that have an extended absence and under medical care must provide a medical release from the treating physician setting forth any restrictions to the employee’s ability to perform their job.
