Extension of Leave. a. A less than 12-month employee who desires an extension of leave for a part or all of the following school year must submit a request to the Superintendent in writing by April 1 of the school year for which leave was granted. In the event leave was granted after April 1, written request for an extension of the leave shall be made as soon as feasible, but in no event later than three weeks prior to the employee’s first scheduled duty day in the new school year. b. A 12-month employee who desires an extension of leave for part or all of the following school year must submit a request to the Superintendent in writing at least one month prior to the termination of the leave. c. The District shall notify each employee on leave of this provision, by certified mail, to his/her last known address by March 15. The employee shall be required to indicate his/her intent to return, request an extension, or resign. If the employee fails to respond, s/he shall be considered to have resigned effective upon the expiration of the leave.
