Extra Duty Assignments. A. Any assignment in addition to the normal teaching schedule during the regular school year shall not be obligatory, except band, choir and drama (if a class), but shall be with the consent of the teacher. 1. Extra Duty Assignments. A. Preference in making such assignments shall generally be given to teachers regularly employed in the District. The final appointment will be made in the best interest of the students. 2. Applicants for Schedule B positions must meet minimum requirements as developed by the District 3. If there is more than one teacher applicant for a Schedule B position, the teacher whom the Superintendent deems is best qualified in the activity will be awarded the position after considering the teacher's previous experience in the activity and professional background. 4. If the Board is unable to fill the position with someone from the outside, the Board may assign the position to a teacher. 5. No teacher shall be required to accept more than one (1) such position per school year. 6. Advance notice of any such assignment shall be given as soon as practical but at least fifteen (15) days before the assignment begins except for emergencies and those assignments that begin before the opening of school, or during the first week of school. It is agreed that co-curricular and extra-curricular positions are non-tenure in nature. B. Returning Staff 1. All persons holding compensated Schedule B positions shall be contacted, by listed in the Athletic Director or Principal, no later than June 30, contract. BEA members assigned to extra duties (Schedule B) shall continue in these assignments so long as they: a) receive satisfactory evaluations for fall and winter activitiesthe current year in those assignments, and October 30, for spring activities, and shall, at that time, indicate their intent b) desire to continue remain in said the position. 2. All vacancies shall be posted before the end of the school year. 3. Attempts will be made to fill all positions no later than two (2) weeks before the start of the activity. C. Experience Credit for Extra Duty. Supplemental pay for Schedule B activities shall be based upon the appropriate salary step of Schedule B. For the purpose of step placement on Schedule B, the following will apply: 1. Teachers will be given credit for each year's experience in a particular activity which they are to perform on the extra duty schedule which is comparable to the previous position (i.e. same sport or activity) they performed at their prior place of employment. However, step placement these positions will be posted once every four years (25% of them each year) to allow other employees to apply and be considered for these positions. When an extra duty assignment is internally posted, any BEA member may apply in writing and be given due consideration for an extra duty assignment. Extra duty assignments will be posted for two calendar weeks. Only if BEA members applying do not meet the negotiated job descriptions as posted, then the Board may post the positions externally to be filled by applicants other than BEA members. If a vacancy occurs in a Schedule B position 4 weeks or less before the activity is scheduled to begin, the Board may post the position internally and externally simultaneously. In such event, BEA member applicants will be considered before all other applicants. The Board may employ an applicant other than a BEA member only if no higher than Step 4 and there BEA member applicants meet the negotiated job description as posted. The salaries shall be no retroactive as listed in Schedule B. The district shall be the guarantor of the payment for past years servicesthese positions regardless of how the funds are raised. 2. When changing extra duty assignment vacancies exist after posting periods of two weeks, with no qualified BEA member applicant, such positions within a particular activity which is comparable may be filled by the Board by assigning them to the previous position (i.e. same sport or activity), step placement applicants other than regularly employed BEA member. The salaries of these individuals will be maintained within and between classes, except that if the change would result in movement to a higher paying class, step placement will be no higher than Step 4. 3. A teacher who is currently holding a position covered by Schedule B will be placed on said pay schedule in accordance with the above provision effective with this Agreement. 4. If a new program is developed during the term of this Agreement, compensation will be made on the basis of the nearest like program stated in Schedule B. D. Evaluation of Coaches3. Coaches shall BEA members will be evaluated in writing assigned to extra duty positions by the Athletic Director, Superintendent, or other administrator at criteria presented in B(1) above. The number of extra duty assignments given to any one person will be mutually reviewed by the conclusion involved BEA member and the involved supervisory personnel with consideration given to the assignment of the coaching season or school yearBEA member. Extra Duty Assignments. A. Any assignment teacher assigned by administration to specified extra duties outside of the negotiated duty day as defined by Article V, Section 2A1 of the negotiated agreement and not included in addition the stated Supplemental Salaries (Article IV, Section 3) of the negotiated agreement shall be compensated in quarter (0.25) hour increments at the negotiated hourly pay rate of $12.00 per hour with a 12-hour per day limit ($144) for the supervision of school-sponsored student performances of a non-athletic nature, non- supplemental concession supervision, event support duties, enrollment and breakfast supervision and so on.
