Room Assignments. A. It is the policy of University to assign roommates without regard to veteran status, race, religion, age, sexual preference, disabilities, or national origin. Generally, Student may request to live with a designated student based on a self-selection process. In this instance, Student preference profiles may be considered by Student but will not be considered by University. If Student does not self-select a room space, University will assign a space to the Student. Alternatively, University may try to match roommates based on Student preference profiles. In any case, University cannot guarantee requested preferences in the room assignment process. University may assign or reassign Student without regard to requested preferences to a specific hall, room or roommate. B. If Student executes multiple contracts for housing accommodations in University-Owned and managed properties for an overlapping academic term, University may terminate the earliest executed contract(s). In such instance, University will email contract termination notice to Student in accordance with Section XVII. C. Students without disabilities may reside in Residence Hall rooms which have been specifically designed to accommodate persons with disabilities. In the event a Residence Hall room is needed to accommodate a person with a disability, Student may be required to relocate to alternate University Campus Housing accommodations. In this instance, University shall pay reasonable moving expenses to relocate occupant(s) to alternate accommodations. In this instance, University shall provide no less than three (3) days written notice prior to terminating the existing Contract. In addition, University will also credit $300 to each relocated student in appreciation of any inconvenience the student may experience. D. If permanent space is not available, the UT Arlington Housing Office may place Student in temporary space until permanent space is available. During this period, Student will earn a 25% credit on the daily rate of the room portion of the Contract. If the UT Arlington Housing Office places Student in a temporary space, Student is bound to the terms and conditions of the Contract through the fifth class day. After the fifth class day and before the UT Arlington Housing Office offers Student permanent space, Student may cancel the Contract upon written notice and payment of the prorated amount under the Contract for the number of days that Student occupied the temporary space. Room Assignments. A. The Resident is not guaranteed a specific assignment. The University reserves the right to make assignments and reassignments of accommodations as considered necessary. B. When single vacancies occur, consolidation may be required unless arrangements and payments are made for a private room; private rooms require an additional charge of 1/2 the double occupancy housing plan rate for the semester. If the Resident does not comply with a consolidation request by the given date, the Resident may be assessed the private room rate. (See XIII. PRIVATE ROOMS). C. The Resident agrees that any change in room status, such as a private room, moving into a premium room, or changing on-campus facilities may affect the housing plan rate. Any refund of the overpayment will be refunded according to section VIII. REFUNDS. Any additional charges will be assessed to the Resident’s account and will be due within ten (10) days from the move or change in room status. D. Room Assignments. A. The University draws students from many states, nations, races and religions. It will be the responsibility of each resident to respect the rights of all residents in university residence halls. Admission to Texas A&M University – Texarkana and any of its sponsored programs is open to qualified individuals regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. Room and roommate assignments are made without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin. B. The student must move into the assigned location by 9 a.m. of the first day of classes or give prior written notice to The Office of Residence Life or the student may be assigned to a different room.

Student may be removed from a residence hall or reassigned to a new room based on a determination that Student poses a continuing danger to persons or property, or presents a threat of disrupting the normal operations of the residence halls. E. This Agreement will terminate if assigned accommodations are destroyed, or otherwise made unavailable, and UNT cannot furnish other accommodations. All rights and liabilities of the parties will cease and fees previously paid by the student will be pro-rated and returned to the Student.

In making or changing room assignments, Virginia Tech complies with all federal and state regulations regarding nondiscrimination. First-year, graduate, and transfer student room assignments will be made according to the date that the applicant’s contract and/or prepayment is received. Assignments for returning/continuing students are made according to the housing application process specifications given at the time of contract issuance. Room changes are permitted based on space availability.

D. If a vacancy occurs in the assigned room, the office of Housing and Residence Life will notify the remaining resident of one of these possible outcomes: 1. A new resident will move into the room; 2. The remaining resident will be asked to move into another under occupied room; or 3. The remaining resident will be notified they will remain in their room until an acceptable roommate match comes available. E. The resident agrees that, should they fail to occupy the assigned room by noon on the first day of the quarter, the resident’s assignment to a particular room may be forfeited unless prior written approval is granted by Housing and Residence Life. In such a forfeiture of assignment space, the resident agrees to accept other available housing accommodations. Failure to move in does not change the financial obligation of this contract. F. Residents and rooms are subject to reassignment by Housing and Residence Life at any time. The University may alter the resident’s assignment for reasons including, but not limited to, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, student conduct, catastrophe, renovation or closing of facility, consolidation of vacancies, unavailability of space, irresolvable incompatibility of roommates, unpaid housing charges, facility maintenance, or at the written request of the resident. G. The resident agrees to observe the hall/room change procedures established by the University and to have written approval before making a change of hall and/or room assignment.

Room Assignments. 6.1 Rooms shall be occupied only by the residents(s) assigned to them by University Housing. 6.2 Assignments are non-transferable. Subletting is not permitted. 6.3 Keys will only be issued to the authorized residents of the assigned housing. University Housing staff are not permitted to issue a key to a friend, family member, or designee. Residents are prohibited from giving their keys to anyone who is not an authorized occupant. 6.4 Occupancy is defined as the number of people assigned to a bedroom; residence halls are either single or double occupancy, Wolf Village and Wolf Ridge are all single occupancy bedrooms, XX Xxxx Village, Western Manor and Coastal Quarters are single or double bedrooms. 6.5 Students or employees assigned to XX Xxxx Village or Western Manor may have a spouse and/or legal dependents assigned to the apartment with prior approval from University Housing. Friends, extended family members or other NC State students are not eligible to be an additional occupant unless the individual is a spouse and/or legal dependent of the primary applicant. The total number of residents, including the primary resident and all additional occupants, in one apartment cannot exceed the occupancy limit for the type of apartment, as outlined on the University Housing website. 6.6 NC State housing assignments are made without regard to age, color, disability, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status. 6.7 Roommate Preferences: While University Housing strives to meet resident’s requests for a preferred roommate, this Agreement does not guarantee such an assignment. Agreements will not be terminated and refunds will not be issued if preferred roommate requests cannot be granted. 6.8 Room/Roommate Changes: Assignment changes must be first approved by University Housing. Residents wishing to change a room assignment or roommate must complete the room change request in MyPack Portal. Submitting a request does not guarantee a change will be granted.
