Feedbacks and relationships. Until recently, the system characteristics related to climate change existed as purely theoretical concepts with which stakeholders might better understand the issues. Attempts to further define and specifically relate the different system characteristics to climate change impacts have resulted in conceptual frameworks that attempt to elucidate connectivity and feedbacks. Xxxxxx and Xxxxx (2006), in their presentation of such a conceptual framework for vulnerability research, document the development of terminology related to vulnerability as well as the evolution of approaches to vulnerability assessment. The framework itself provides a valuable service: a visual linkage map between many of the terms and concepts surrounding climate change. The framework has been utilized and expanded by other research groups (e.g. (EEA, 2012b; ESPON Climate, 2011; Xxxx et al., 2011). and now presents a compelling image (Figure 3) to describe the system in ways that help lead to quantifiable definitions and explanatory equations.

  • Other Relationships Any Agent and any other person, whether or not acting for itself, may acquire, hold or dispose of any Note, Coupon, Talon or other security (or any interest therein) of the Issuer or any other person, may enter into or be interested in any contract or transaction with any such person, and may act on, or as depositary, trustee or agent for, any committee or body of holders of securities of any such person, in each case with the same rights as it would have had if that Agent were not an Agent and need not account for any profit.

  • Clients in this context, clients are people who are dependent upon the caring skills and services of the local authority, for example, the elderly, mentally infirm, those with mental or physical impairments. Clients in this context also include those whose needs are identified and catered for in settings such as schools and nurseries, that is, young children and school pupils dependent on the organisation for their educational and developmental welfare. Clients exclude internal authority customers (as in client departments) or external customers (for example, members of the public with planning applications), because neither are dependent on the local authority for their care and welfare. The exceptional needs of clients refer to those which are exceptionally demanding, not to those which are out of the ordinary.

  • Parties’ Relationship The parties to the Agreement are independent parties. BNY Mellon, in furnishing the Services, is acting as an independent contractor. BNY Mellon has the sole right and obligation to supervise, manage, contract, direct, procure, perform or cause to be performed, all work to be performed by BNY Mellon and its employees, agents, independent contractors and other representatives under the Agreement. At no time shall any such individuals represent himself or herself as an employee of a Fund or be considered an employee of a Fund. BNY Mellon is not a joint venturer with, nor an employee, agent or partner of the Funds and has no authority to represent or bind the Funds as to any matters.

  • Working Relationship 4.3.1 Where there is a problem in the working relationship between the principal and the Board (including individual Board members) that has not been informally resolved and is to the detriment of the school, the Board, in consultation with the principal, may consider appointing a suitably qualified independent person to mediate or facilitate between the parties and/or undertake an impartial and objective assessment of the concern(s).

  • Business Relationship The relationship between a landlord and tenant is a business relationship. A courteous and businesslike attitude is required from both parties. We reserve the right to refuse rental to anyone who is verbally abusive, swears, is disrespectful, makes threats, is under the influence, is argumentative, or in general displays an attitude at the time of the unit showing and application process that causes management to believe we would not have a positive business relationship.

  • Internships The Hospital may establish internships for the purpose of meeting future projected nursing shortages and/or providing career opportunities where there are no internal qualified candidates for job postings. In such circumstances, the implementation and guidelines of such an arrangement will be determined locally by the Hospital and the Union subject to the following: Internships are designed to develop the Hospital’s staff in order to fill positions for which there are currently no qualified internal candidates and/or for which shortages are predicted within a five (5) year period.
