Gate Valves Sample Clauses
Gate Valves. 1. Gate valves 3 inches (80 mm) and larger shall be of the resilient seat type meeting the requirements of AWWA C509 or C515. Valves shall be iron body, bronze trimmed, with non-rising stems, and shall be fusion-bonded epoxy coated per ANSI/AWWA C550. Valves shall have a minimum design working pressure of 200 psi.
2. Valves shall be manually operated by nut and open counter-clockwise unless specified otherwise in the Plans or The Facility Owner’s Standard Specifications.
3. The resilient seating arrangement shall provide zero leakage at the design working pressure when installed with line flow in either direction. All ferrous surfaces inside and outside shall have a fusion bonded epoxy coating. All valves shall be provided with O-ring seals. The design and machining of valves shall be such as to permit replacing the O- ring seals in the valves while in service without leakage.
4. All gate valves, when fully opened, shall have an unobstructed waterway diameter equal to or larger than the full nominal diameter of the valve.
5. In general, valves shall be designed for vertical installation. Valves installed in the horizontal position shall be provided with bevel gears, extended gear case, rollers, tracks, and scrapers.
6. Exposed or above-ground gate valves shall be outside screw and yoke (OS&Y) flanged joint type with an operating hand wheel. The face-to-face dimensions and drilling shall conform to ANSI B16.10 for Class 125 flanged joint end gate valves.
7. Valves shall include mechanical joints, bolts, glands, gaskets, and all other materials necessary to join to existing work.
8. Provide brass identification tag imprinted with “WATER”, valve size, valve type, and direction and number of turns to open. Provide a ¼-inch (8 mm) hole in the brass tag and attach the tag to the end of the locate wire (twist wire around tag). Tag shall be 2-inch (50 mm) diameter and ⅛-inch (6 mm) thick brass with a ¼-inch (8 mm) hole.
Gate Valves inch and larger: UL listed and labeled, FM approved, 175 psi OS&Y type, iron body, bronze mounted.
Gate Valves. Gate valves shall be paid for at the unit price per each size gate valve and box assembly installed and shall cover the cost for all materials, transportation, labor, equipment, excavation, sheeting and shoring, installation of the gate valves (including valve box), concrete pad or collar, valve identification disc, valve marker, valve tag, polyethylene encasement, protection of existing utilities, chlorine for disinfection, disinfection, backfilling, backfill material, disposal of unsuitable backfill materials, tamping, testing, densities, utility crossings, dewatering, trench stabilization, clean-up, restoration, and all work and materials necessary to install the gate valve and place it in service.
Gate Valves. Gate valves shall be measured on an individual basis for each size valve and box assembly acceptably installed.
Gate Valves. Flanged, raised face, wedge, ASTM A-216 Gr WCB cast steel bodies, OS&Y and bolted bonnets. Valve trim shall have a proven 10 year service life in similar geothermal service, for example stellite or 316 sealing surfaces and 17-4 PH valve stem. Valve specifications shall be submitted to Company for approval and verification prior to order by Contractor.
Gate Valves. 1. All gate valves shall be reduced wall, resilient‐seated gate valve, meeting all specifications of AWWA C515. All gate valves shall be approved equal to those named. Both valve ends shall be mechanical‐joint, underground, or flanged which will meet requirements in AWWA C110. Accessories (bolts, glands, and gaskets) shall be supplied by the valve manufacturer.
2. The valve body and associated parts shall be manufactured of material recommended in AWWA C515 or as otherwise specified in AWWA standards. Packing shall be suitable for use in potable‐water‐service applications and shall not contain asbestos or other constituents identified by USEPA as being unacceptable for contact with potable water.
3. All valves shall open left and be equipped with 2‐inch standard nut for underground installation. Each valve shall be capable of meeting all testing and leakage requirements in AWWA C515. Upon request, the manufacturer shall furnish certified copies of the reports covering these tests.
4. Valves approved for interior/exterior installations are: AFC series 2500 or approved equal.
5. The following manufacturers are listed as offering valves in essential compliance with these specifications. Responsibility rests with the supplier for demonstrating that a particular valve model complies fully with these specifications. Manufacturers other than those listed may be acceptable provided the supplier can satisfy the District’s specifications, indicating that all components they provide are in compliance with the Steel Products Procurement Act identified in Section 1.02
Gate Valves. Valves 2" and under shall be class 125 all bronze construction valve with solder ends, rising stem, block pattern, union bonnet, solid wedge, 200 psi non-shock cold working pressure conforming to MSS SP-80.
