Good Employer/Equal Employment. Opportunities‌ Attention is drawn to sections 597-607 of the Education and Training Act 2020 which outlines the responsibilities of the employer with regard to the operation of a personnel policy that complies with the principles of being a good employer and the equal employment opportunity responsibilities of the employer.

Good Employer/Equal Employment. Opportunities [see also sections 597 and 600-607 of the Education and Training Act 2020s.77A State Sector Act 1988] 3.1.1 Every employer bound by this agreement shall: (a) Operate a personnel policy that complies with the principles of being a good employer; and (b) Make provision for: (i) Good and safe working conditions; and (ii) The impartial selection of suitably qualified persons for appointment; and (iii) Recognition of: (a) The aims and aspirations of Mäāori people; and (b) The employment requirements of Mäāori people; and (c) The need for greater involvement of Mäāori people in the education service; and (iv) Opportunities for the enhancement of the abilities of individual employees; and (v) Recognition of the aims and aspirations, and the cultural differences, of ethnic or minority groups; and (vi) Recognition of the employment requirements of women; and (vii) Recognition of the employment requirements of persons with disabilities; and (c) Develop, publish and comply with an equal employment opportunities programme on a yearly basis.

  • Re-employment An employee who resigns their position and within 90 days is re-employed, will be granted a leave of absence without pay covering those days absent and will retain all previous rights in relation to seniority and benefits subject to any benefit plan eligibility requirements.

  • Outside Employment Employees may engage in other employment outside of their State working hours so long as the outside employment does not involve a conflict of interest with their State employment. Whenever it appears that any such outside employment might constitute a conflict of interest, the employee is expected to consult with his/her appointing authority or other appropriate agency representative prior to engaging in such outside employment. Employees of agencies where there are established procedures concerning outside employment for the purpose of insuring compliance with specific statutory restrictions on outside employment are expected to comply with such procedures.

  • Part-Time Employment Monthly compensation for part-time employment will be pro-rated based on the ratio of hours worked to hours required for full-time employment. In the alternative, part-time employees may be paid the appropriate hourly rate for all hours worked.

  • Leave When Employment Terminates When the employment of an employee is terminated for any reason, the employee or his/her estate shall, in lieu of earned but unused vacation leave, be paid an amount equal to the product obtained by multiplying the number of days of earned but unused vacation leave by the daily rate of pay applicable to the employee immediately prior to the termination of his/her employment.

  • Casual Employees A casual employee is one who is not regularly scheduled to work other than during periods that such employee shall relieve a regular full-time or regular part-time employee. Casual employees accumulate seniority on an hourly basis and are entitled to such benefits as are contained in the “Addendum - Casual Employees”.
