Common use of Holiday Time Accrual Clause in Contracts

Holiday Time Accrual. (1) Upon retirement or termination, employees shall be compensated for any unused accrued holiday time at the then current base rate equivalency. (2) An employee may code vacation or other appropriate accrued paid leave time on a fixed holiday only under the following circumstances: (i) An employee on an alternate work schedule such as a 9/80 or 4/10 may code accrued vacation hours on a fixed holiday that falls on a workday up to an amount that if combined with his/her fixed holiday accrual would equal the total number of hours the employee would have been scheduled for that day (e.g., an employee on a 4/10 work schedule normally works ten (10) hours on Mondays, when the fixed holiday falls on a Monday the employee codes eight (8) hours of holiday and may code up to two (2) hours of vacation).
