Four (4) floating holidays are to be scheduled by mutual agreement of the employee and his/her department and taken within the calendar year. The first four (4) full days (7.5 or 8 hours) of vacation or compensatory time taken during each calendar year shall be charged as floating holidays. Employees shall have the primary responsibility to schedule and take their floating holidays. Each employee hired prior to July 1 of each year shall be entitled to the floating holiday(s). Employees hired after July 1 will not be entitled to the floating holiday(s) for the calendar year in which they were hired. Less than full-time eligible employees shall be entitled to prorated floating holidays based on a proration of the hours the employee is regularly scheduled to work as of January 1. Effective January 1, 2011, floating holidays for less than full-time eligible employees whose standard working hours change to full-time after January 1 but prior to July 1 of a calendar year, shall be increased based on the employee’s full-time status. The adjustments to the floating holiday hour balance shall not exceed the full-time equivalent amount for four (4) days of floating holidays [thirty-two (32) hours for eighty (80) hour pay period employee and thirty (30) hours for seventy-five (75) hour per pay period employee] or the full-time equivalent amount in effect for the calendar year.
