HOLIDAYS WITH PAY. 7.01Employees who qualify under Section 12.02 shall be paid without the performance of work for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Dominion Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. When any of the above holidays fall on Saturday, it shall be observed on the preceding Friday, and if the holiday falls on Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. Employees who have accumulated one hundred and twenty (120) days seniority will be granted two (2) floating holidays per year. Such holidays will be taken at a time satisfactory to the employee and the supervisor. An employee who by reason of lay-off is prevented from taking their floating holidays shall receive pay in lieu of such holidays. If an employee has any floating holidays remaining on December 1st, the employee may elect to take pay in lieu of time off.

HOLIDAYS WITH PAY. 5.01 Employees who qualify under Section 4.02 shall be paid without the performance of work for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Canada Day, Labour Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. When any of the above holidays fall on Saturday, it shall be observed on the preceding Friday, and if the holiday falls on Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. In addition to the above, on January 1 of the current calendar year, an employee who works 6 months or more in the previous calendar year will be entitled to four (4) additional Floating Holidays. Such holidays will be taken at a time satisfactory to the employee and his supervisor. An employee, who by reason of lay-off is prevented from taking his Floating Holidays shall receive pay in lieu of such holidays. For those employees who would be scheduled to work on a statutory holiday, holiday pay will be based on each employee’s normal schedule. Those employees not scheduled to work will receive pay as defined in the Collective Agreement.

Should Remembrance Day be declared a Public Holiday to be observed by Business, it shall replace the Floating Holiday. Floating Holidays shall be taken within the calendar year.
HOLIDAYS WITH PAY. 7.01 Employees who have established seniority shall be paid without performance of work for the following holiday: New Years Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Boxing Day The Company agrees to give an additional floater in lieu of family day however the parties agree that should Bowater not run on family day the employee shall have the option of taking family day off without pay or utilizing one of their floaters. Probationary employees shall be paid for the above holidays according to the Employment Standards Act, 2000. When any of the above holidays fall on a Saturday, it shall be observed on the preceding Friday and if the holiday falls on Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. At the beginning of each calendar year the dates on which these holidays will be observed shall be agreed upon with the Union. Employees who have established seniority shall be granted one (1) floating holiday with pay per year, to be taken at a time satisfactory to the employee and supervisor. Effective February 1, 2006, change one (1) floating holiday to two (2), Effective February 12, 2008 change two (2) to three (3) floating holidays. The Company and the Union will meet on or before the 31st of March from year to year and arrange appropriate methods agreeable to both parties, of recognizing the “Day of Mourning”. The recognition process shall be at no penalty to the Company and shall not affect the operation in terms of production or hours of work. Should the Provincial and/or Federal Governments proclaim any additional holidays during the term of the collective agreement such holiday shall form part of the collective agreement in particular article VII. The Parties shall meet to discuss the observation of the holiday based on the sawmill requirement. The Company agrees to give an additional floater in lieu of the statutory holiday however the parties agree that should Bowater not run on the Statutory holiday the employee shall have the option of taking this day off without pay or utilizing one of their floaters.
