Recognising that information and communication technologies (ICT) are key elements of modern life and are of vital importance to economic and social development, the Parties endeavour to coordinate their respective policies in this field with a view to promoting economic development.

Information Society. The Parties agree to strengthen cooperation with the objective of further developing the Information Society in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Global objectives will be preparing society as a whole for the digital age, attracting investments and interoperability of networks and services. The authorities of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, with the assistance of the Community, will review carefully any political commitment undertaken in the European Union with the objective of aligning its own policies on those of the Union. The authorities of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will establish a plan for the adoption of Community legislation in the area of the Information Society.
Information Society. Article 98 The Parties shall strengthen cooperation on the development of the Information Society to benefit citizens and busi nesses through the widespread availability of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and through better quality of services at affordable prices. That cooperation should aim at facilitating access to electronic communications markets, encouraging competition and investment in the sector, and promoting the development of public services online.
