Job Characteristics. Most of the job tasks do not require frequent direct contact with other employees. • There are clearly defined tasks and deliverables. • There are measurable work activities that can be monitored. • There are established time frames and work points to achieve objectives and measure progress. • Many of the job tasks require concentration in a quiet setting • The job can be performed without close supervision. • The job does not require access to special equipment only available at the regular work site. • Most communication in this position can be accomplished using technology rather than face-to-face contact.
Job Characteristics. Work can be sent to and from the employee’s designated work location with ease, speed, and confidentiality; • The job involves a high percentage of work that can be performed from home; • There is a low requirement for in-person face-to-face contact with management, direct reports, customers, members of the public, other employees, etc.; • The needs of internal and external customers can be satisfied without adverse impact to the Corporation.
Job Characteristics. In NOVs daily operations they have challenges with regards to handling resource allocation. Given customer requirements the jobs they receive have fixed starting and duration times, and requires different job skills and job experiences. When a worker first is allocated to a job it is not possible to split the job into separate intervals, but requires the job to be viewed as a whole. NOV has a pool of workers with different skills and experience. Because of this, NOV matches these workers with the same requirements the jobs have. Figure 3 - Utilization elements (Self-made, 2011)
Job Characteristics. 1. The above duties are to be carried out in order to supplement those ordinarily performed by “Greenskeepers 1 and 2”.
