Common use of Joint Subcommittee on Training and Apprenticeship Clause in Contracts

Joint Subcommittee on Training and Apprenticeship. To carry out the intent and purposes of this Article, a subcommittee of the Labor Management Committee established pursuant to Article 17 shall be established, jointly chaired by a designee of the District and a designee of the Council, to oversee the identification and/or effective development of procedures and programs leading to the establishment of District Joint Labor Management Apprenticeship Programs, and to work with representatives of each apprenticeship committee and representatives of the District’s Joint Labor Management Apprenticeship Programs, if established during the term of this Agreement, to establishing appropriate criteria for recognition by Apprenticeship Programs of the educational and work experience possessed by District students and graduates toward qualifying for entry or advanced level in the Apprenticeship Programs. The Joint Subcommittee will cooperate with and assist the District to facilitate students’ entrance into the Apprenticeship Programs. The Subcommittee will meet as necessary at the call of the joint chairs to promptly facilitate its purposes in an expeditious manner as soon as this CSWPA becomes effective. In addition to the joint chairs, the membership of the committee will consist of at least three representatives of the signatory local Unions and three representatives of Contractors signatory to this CSWPA and experienced in overseeing and participating in Apprenticeship Programs.

The Joint Subcommittee Specific emphasis will cooperate be placed on coordination of the District’s existing or planned educational programs with the apprenticeship training programs of the signatory Unions, and assist the cooperation of the District and the signatory Unions, and the representatives of their JAC’s, to facilitate students’ entrance into encourage Riverside Community College District graduates, students and prospective students to participate in such apprenticeship programs, for the Apprenticeship Programsimprovement of the construction industry. The Subcommittee will meet as necessary at the call of the joint chairs to promptly facilitate its purposes in an expeditious manner as soon as this CSWPA PLA becomes effective. In addition to the joint chairs, the membership of the committee will consist of at least three representatives of the signatory local Unions and three representatives of Contractors signatory to this CSWPA Agreement and experienced in overseeing and participating in Apprenticeship Programsjoint labor management apprenticeship programs (or organizations to which the Contractors belong).
