Apprenticeship Program. The parties agree to meet to discuss the development of mutually agreeable apprenticeship programs. The specific provisions of the apprenticeship programs shall be subject to agreement between the City, the Civil Service Commission (where appropriate), and the Union. Each apprenticeship program, however, shall contain at least the following terms:
Apprenticeship Program. A. This clause shall apply to apprentices who enter into a contract with the Board under the provisions of the Apprenticeship and Trades' Qualification Act.
B. Every apprentice shall be bound by all the provisions of the Collective Agreement between the Board and the Union prevailing from time to time.
C. This clause and the contracts of apprenticeship entered into pursuant to this Agreement shall be governed by the provisions of the Apprenticeship and Trades' Qualification Act except for the wage rate which shall be as follows:
D. An apprentice shall be paid the difference between the regular rate of pay and the sum of any board, lodging, transportation or other allowances granted by the Ministry of Labour and/or Canada Manpower while attending full time courses requiring five or more hours of instruction per day set by a training authority established under the Apprenticeship and Trades' Qualification Act during each year of apprenticeship. This payment shall be made for only one (1) course of apprenticeship completion and certification. No payment shall be made to an apprentice for repetition of a course occasioned by their failure to pass an examination.
E. Where an apprentice is absent from work by reason of sickness or injury, the Board shall extend the term of such apprentice's contract but such extension shall not exceed six (6) months in duration without the approval of the Superintendent of Schools or their designate. Should there be no extension(s) the apprentice's contract shall be terminated and
F. Any apprentice failing an examination conducted under the direction of the Director of Apprenticeship and Industrial Training shall be permitted to repeat the examination once only at the next available examination period. Should the second examination be failed, the apprentice's contract shall be terminated and the employee placed on recall.
G. Apprentices who have achieved eighty-five percent (85%) of the required hours for completion of their apprenticeship may apply for and hold a regular position to transfer to on completion of their apprenticeship. If required, the regular position shall be backfilled in accordance with Article 2.4.
H. Every apprentice who has obtained a certificate of proficiency or a certificate of apprenticeship in their designated trade under the Act for whom no trades' position is immediately open in the School District shall, if the Board deems work is available, be retained on staff for a maximum of six (6) months at th...

Apprenticeship Program a) Apprentices shall be indentured to the employer and shall continue in training with such employer as long as possible.
b) Apprentices should be tested at the conclusion of each school training period. Apprentices must attend in-school training when directed by the employer. The apprentice will advance to the next training period while waiting for the availability of an in-school training program. An apprentice who fails to successfully complete the in-school train- ing program shall be held in the current training period until the employee tries again and success- fully passes the test.

Apprenticeship Program. The parties will jointly develop and implement an Apprenticeship Program that will increase the skill of the Puget Sound region work force, specifically women, people of color, and individuals who are low-income or under-represented on the work force, so that these workers can enter the pool of skilled labor, fully qualified for living wage jobs. Said Apprenticeship Program shall include the following components:
(a) A Project-wide goal of 20% for the utilization of Washington State Apprenticeship Council (SAC) approved apprentices.
(b) Methods that will be used by the Committee to identify opportunities for the utilization of apprentices on specific contract packages.
(c) Means and methods for reporting, collecting and analyzing data related to the utilization of apprentices on the Project.
(d) Means and methods for monitoring and enforcing the apprenticeship efforts of the parties.
(e) Means and methods for ensuring the inclusion of women and people of color in the apprenticeship program as follows: • Women and people of color to perform at least 50% of all first-year apprentice hours in all trades. • Women and people of color to perform at least 33% of all apprentice hours worked.
(f) Means and methods for removing barriers to the inclusion of low income and under- represented individuals in the apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship program.
Apprenticeship Program. 16.01 Apprentices shall be paid in accordance with the appropriate regulations of the Alberta Apprenticeship Act including the required tuition and book costs. Selection shall be based on Alberta Apprenticeship Act qualifications and SMS Apprentice Selection Policy. If two or more applicants are qualified, the determining factor shall be seniority.
16.02 All apprentices shall acquire and maintain the basic hand tools required to carry out their apprenticeship training.
16.03 Apprentices required to maintain a second residence while attending school not offered in his/her place of normal residence and authorized by the Company, will receive a fifty dollar ($50.00) per weekday allowance to assist in defraying the travel and living out costs, providing the apprentice attends school on the days for which the allowance is claimed. Proof of daily attendance from the institution will be submitted, if so requested by the Company, in order to be eligible for receiving payment.
