Common use of Justification of Cause of Absence Clause in Contracts

Justification of Cause of Absence. Where the Employer has reason to doubt the justification of the cause of absence, the employee, after written notification shall be required to submit a medical certificate for all absences. If a medical certificate is not provided, or if the medical certificate does not include the date the employee was seen and a statement from the medical practitioner advising that the employee was unable to attend work during the period of the absence, the employee will not be entitled to receive sick leave pay for the absence in question and will be coded as unauthorized leave without pay. This requirement shall extend for a period of six (6) calendar months following the written notification.
