Leave - Death in Immediate Family. An hourly paid employee with thirty (30) days' continuous service who is absent from work because of the death of a xxxxxx child residing in the home, or of the employee's parent, brother, sister, child, spouse, mother-in- law, father-in-law, brother-in-law (which includes the employee's sister's husband, the employee's spouse's brother, and the husband of the employee's spouse's sister), sister-in-law (which includes the employee's brother's wife, the employee's spouse's sister, and the wife of the employee's spouse's brother), son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandparent-in- law, stepparent, stepbrother, stepsister, stepchild, grandchild, domestic partner or parent or child of domestic partner will be compensated for time lost by reason of such absence from his regularly scheduled straight-time shift hours during Monday to Friday of his work week, excluding holiday, and furlough days, up to a maximum of three (3) days for each such absence. Such paid leave will be limited to three (3) regular work days within a period of five (5) days starting on the day designated by the employee within seven (7) days of the day of the death. In no case shall payment be made for more than the three (3) days described above; provided, however, that in the event an employee meeting the requirements listed above is absent from work because of the death of a xxxxxx child residing in the home, or of the employee's child, spouse, stepchild, or domestic partner or child of domestic partner, he will be compensated for an additional two (2) work days for time lost by reason of each such absence within a period of seven (7) days starting on the day designated by the employee within seven

  • Death in Immediate Family A regularly scheduled employee may be granted up to five days of leave of absence with pay by the Agency/Department Head because of death in the immediate family. An employee shall be allowed to take such leave within a four week period. For purposes of this subsection, "immediate family" means mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner (upon submission of an affidavit as defined in the appendices), son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Entitlement to leave of absence under this subsection shall be only for all hours the employee would have been scheduled to work for those days granted, and shall be in addition to any other entitlement for sick leave, emergency leave, or any other leave.

  • Illness in Immediate Family 1. Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used by a teacher for each serious illness of a member of that teacher's immediate family or birth of a child of a teacher. Serious illness shall mean an illness where death is probable and may occur, surgery is performed requiring hospitalization, or illness requiring treatment by a physician. Two (2) additional days of sick leave may be used where round trip travel is 600 miles or more.

  • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. One (1) of these days must be the funeral day.

  • Immediate Family Immediate family includes husband, wife, child, stepchild, brother, brother-in-law, stepbrother, sister, sister-in-law, stepsister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or any person serving as a parent, or who has served as a parent, or any other close person living in the same household as the employee.

  • Death in Family At the request of the employee, the Employer may grant a leave of absence for other purposes. The terms and conditions of all leaves of absence shall be set forth in writing. The Employer shall grant an automatic leave of absence, if so desired, not to exceed two (2) weeks, in cases of critical illness or injury or death in the employee's immediate family. Any period in excess of two (2) weeks shall require the written consent of the Employer. When possible, the employee shall request such leaves of absence; but in any event, the Employer shall be notified within twenty-four (24) hours.

  • Spouse The spouse of an eligible employee (if legally married under Minnesota law). For the purposes of health insurance coverage, if that spouse works full-time for an organization employing more than one hundred (100) people and elects to receive either credits or cash (1) in place of health insurance or health coverage or (2) in addition to a health plan with a seven hundred and fifty dollar ($750) or greater deductible through his/her employing organization, he/she is not eligible to be a covered dependent for the purposes of this Article. If both spouses work for the State or another organization participating in the State's Group Insurance Program, neither spouse may be covered as a dependent by the other, unless one spouse is not eligible for a full Employer Contribution as defined in Section 3A. Effective January 1, 2015 if both spouses work for the State or another organization participating in the State’s Group Insurance Program, a spouse may be covered as a dependent by the other.

  • Family Death Leave a. The County shall authorize family death leave with pay, for a regular employee, when needed, due to the death of his/her:

  • Dependent Child If dependent children are covered under separate plans of more than one person, whether a parent or guardian, benefits for the child will be determined in the following order: • the benefits of the plan covering the parent born earlier in the year will be determined before those of the parent whose birthday (month and day only) falls later in the year; • if both parents have the same birthday, the benefits of the plan that covered the parent longer are determined before those of the plan which covered the other parent for a shorter period of time; • if the other plan does not determine benefits according to the parents' birth dates, but by parents' gender instead, the other plan’s gender rule will determine the order of benefits.

  • Deceased Employees The employer may approve a cash payment equivalent to the two lots of two weeks' salary to the widow, widower or if no surviving spouse exists, to dependent child(ren) or to the estate, of a deceased employee who had qualified for long service leave but who had neither taken nor forfeited it under these rules. This payment will be in addition to any grant made under the Retirement Gratuity Provisions specified in this Agreement.

  • Immediate family or household 25.2.1 The entitlement to use personal leave for the purposes of carer’s or bereavement leave is subject to the person in respect of whom the leave is taken being either:
