Leave for Birth of Child/or Adoption. Where an employee’s spouse gives birth to a child, the employee shall be granted special leave with pay up to a maximum of one (1) full shift. This leave may be divided into two (2) periods and be granted on separate days. An employee shall be granted one (1) full shift special leave with pay for the purpose of adoption of a child pursuant to the laws of the Province. This leave may be divided into two (2) separate periods and granted on separate days. If both adoptive parents are eligible for such leave under this Agreement, the amount of paid leave taken under this clause by either one (1) or both parents shall not exceed one (1) full shift.
