If an employee is attending jury roll call, or if an employee is required to serve as a juror in any court of law or is required by subpoena to attend a court of law in any legal proceedings in which the employee is neither the plaintiff nor the defendant, the employee shall not lose any regular pay because of necessary absence from work due to such attendance provided that the employee:
