Common use of Leave for Union Office Clause in Contracts

Leave for Union Office. An employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour or the Canadian Labour Congress shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority for a period of one year. Such leave shall be renewed each year, upon request, during the term of office. The employee shall continue to receive her salary and benefits from the Employer, conditional upon reimbursement of such salary and costs by the Union to the Employer.

An employee who is elected to office in the Canadian Union of Public Employees, whether National or selected for a full-time position with the UnionProvincial, the Saskatchewan Federation duties of Labour or the Canadian Labour Congress shall which require his full time attendance, shall, upon written request, be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority and service for a period of one year. Such leave shall be renewed each year, upon request, during the term of office. The employee shall continue to receive her salary and benefits from the Employer, conditional upon reimbursement of such salary and costs by the Union to the Employernot exceeding two (2) years.
