The birth or adoption of their son or daughter, and to care for such child; or 2. A serious health condition of the spouse, partner in a civil union, minor child, or parent/parent-in-law/step-parent, or a child over age 18 who is incapable of self- care due to a mental or physical impairment, if the team member is needed to care for such family member. The NJFLA does not cover an employee’s own serious health condition. The definition of a "serious health condition" is governed by applicable law.
