MAXIMIZING THE LENGTH OF SHIFTS. (a) While the Employer is entitled to schedule shifts of various lengths as provided for in this Agreement, the Employer is obligated to first schedule the maximum number of eight (8) hour shifts before instituting shifts of 7, 6, 5 or 4 hours.

MAXIMIZING THE LENGTH OF SHIFTS. (a) While the employer is entitled to schedule shifts of various lengths as provided for in this agreement, the employer is obligated to first build and maintain shifts of or hours as the only recognized shifts. Wherever possible all eight hour shifts will be scheduled before seven (7) hour shifts are sched- uled, with a similar progression downward to four (4) hour shifts. The obligation outlined in (a) above shall not be construed as requiring the employer to create split shifts or incur any penalty. ASSIGNMENT OF SHIFTS BY SENIORITY

  • HOLIDAYS THAT FALL ON A SATURDAY For those employees assigned to a work week of Monday through Friday, and in the event a legal holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as a holiday; provided, however, that except where the Governor declares that such preceding Friday shall be a legal holiday, each department head shall make provision for the staffing of public offices under his/her jurisdiction on such preceding Friday so that said public offices may serve the public as provided in Section 16.4 of the Administrative Code.
