Maximum Overstaff Hours. No nurse shall be placed in overstaff status for more than eighty-four (84) hours in any calendar year. This maximum shall not include voluntary overstaff hours, hours worked above the nurse’s FTE, or where the nurse has been given a floating assignment. If the overstaff cap is reached, the nurse may be assigned to any work responsibilities within nursing services including but not limited to skill development/cross training, patient chart audits, continuing education modules, department specific projects such as re-ordering supplies, organizing equipment rooms, assisting other departments in auditing, organizing follow-up calls to patients. This cap shall not apply to registry nurses.
