Reduction in Hours means a reduction in an employee's

Reduction in Hours. (RIH) shall mean a reduction in hours that results in an employee being changed from full-time to part-time status for bona fide financial or program reasons. For purposes of RIH full-time shall mean 35 – 40 hours per week; part-time shall mean less than 35 hours per week.

Reduction in Hours means: (1) a reduction in the number of hours regularly assigned to an employee as his/her workday, or (2) any change in an employee's annual assignment basis which results in a workyear reduction of up to ten working days per year. For purposes of this agreement, "reduction in hours" shall not include those reductions in hours which are included within the definition of layoff in paragraph b. below.

Examples of Reduction in Hours in a sentence

• An employee who is on an approved FMLA leave or on a Voluntary Reduction in Hours as provided elsewhere in this Agreement maintains eligibility for an Employer Contribution.

• It is understood and agreed that the following language will be applied in Layoff and Reduction in Hours situations in all our Colorado Retail Clerk Agreements: In the event of a layoff or reduction in hours, employees who have been "specially trained" in the area of Cake Decorators, FTD Florists, Head Baker and/or Assistant Bakery Manager and Postal Clerks may only be replaced by a more senior employee who has worked at least six months in the "specially trained" classification.

• A supervisor who is on an approved FMLA leave or on a Voluntary Reduction in Hours as provided elsewhere in this Agreement maintains eligibility for an Employer Contribution.

• A nurse who is on an approved FMLA leave or on a Voluntary Reduction in Hours as provided elsewhere in this Agreement maintains eligibility for an Employer Contribution.

• Reduction in Hours Resulting in Nonrenewal Employees who are non-renewed under this section, and such nonrenewal results in a reduction in hours, shall not lose any accrued length of service or sick leave earned as an employee.

• Reduction in Hours shall not be considered a Layoff as defined in this Agreement.

• Reduction in Hours Employees who are reduced in hours shall not lose any benefits they have accrued.

More Definitions of Reduction in Hours

Reduction in Hours. (Means an employee has had his\her hours reduced). In the event of a reduction in the work hours, an employee may claim seniority over other employees for the purpose of maintaining his or her normal work schedule, provided he/she has greater seniority. The District must initiate the reduction in the employee’s work hours before that employee can bump onto another bus route; and, then only the driver affected by the reduction may initiate the bumping procedure. Since all runs are increased in fifteen (15) minutes increments, any gains of a particular run of more than fifteen (15) minutes in a year, or from year to year, will be re-bid when that run gains over the fifteen (15) minute minimum. The District and the Union acknowledge that, due to various reasons, students will be added and removed from all bus routes throughout the school year. These changes will cause the driving time to vary and fluctuate to a certain degree during the year, It is the joint decision that fluctuations under fifteen (15) minutes will not necessarily because for the district to reduce the employee’s hours and start the bidding or bumping process. The employee and the District must first attempt to restore the lost hours through the bidding of noon (kindergarten) bus runs and/or the addition of a Voc-Ed. run an ISD run, or some other extra bus run. This process will occur before the employee attempts to restore lost hours by bumping onto another bus route. It will be the District’s decision, not the driver’s, where additional “extra runs” (Voc-Ed., ISD, etc.) are placed on the driver’s route.
