Common use of Medical Reports Clause in Contracts

Medical Reports. 26.1 The Company’s Human Resource Manager (or her/his designate) may require the production of a physician’s medical report from an employee, who is or has been ill or injured or from an employee who wishes to return to work following an illness or injury and there is a reasonable basis for the Company to have concerns in relation to the employee’s recovery and safe return to the workplace. The report will include the physician’s opinion as to when an ill/injured employee will be capable of resuming her/his normal duties in the future. It is the Company’s intention to generally require these kinds of medical reports from an employee who has suffered from a serious injury or illness or where it reasonably appears to the Company that the ill or injured employee’s absence is likely to be for an extended period of time that is in excess of three (3) days. The employee will be reimbursed for the cost of this report by the Company after the employee has provided a receipt confirming payment to the physician.
