MENTORSHIP PROGRAM FOR PROSPECTIVE CRIMINAL INTELLIGENCE ANALYSTS. The Parties hereby agree, for the term of this Civilian Agreement, expiring December 31, 2019, to the establishment of a Mentorship Program for the purpose of providing members an opportunity to gain the practical experience necessary to compete for the filling of prospective temporary vacancies arising in the classification of Analyst – Criminal Intelligence, as and when such vacancies might arise. Commencing in April, 2014 the Employer shall make available one (1) mentorship position for each of the three (3) month periods January to March, April to June, and September to November annually, thereby providing Program participants with the opportunity to gain practical experience. The selection of applicants to fill such mentorship position(s) shall be subject to a competitive posting process, and employees possessing the requisite academic qualifications for the classification of Analyst – Criminal Intelligence shall be eligible to make application for consideration. A successful applicant’s participation in the Program shall be limited to one (1) mentorship term. Subject to the Employer’s right to suspend the program at any time due to operational requirements, the Parties agree that opportunities under the Mentorship Program shall continue for a two (2) year period from execution of this Agreement.

  • Technical Objections to Grievances It is the intent of both Parties of this Agreement that no grievance shall be defeated merely because of a technical error, other than time limitations in processing the grievance through the grievance procedure. To this end, an arbitration board shall have the power to allow all necessary amendments to the grievance and the power to waive formal procedural irregularities in the processing of a grievance, in order to determine the real matter in dispute and to render a decision according to equitable principles and the justice of the case.
