Employees hired before February 1, 2015 The Security Fund will no longer be using a “work month” and “coverage month” methodology. The two (2) month “run out” from previous pre-funding will continue to exist. With this change, the chart below defines when coverage will end, recognizing the two (2) month run out.

In the application of Article 15.9 (a) (2), locomotive engineers who are returned to the home terminal after being replaced on a trip to the away-from-home terminal, will be paid, in addition to the earnings specified in Note (1) above, the additional actual hours they would have otherwise earned for the round trip had they not been replaced.
Note 2. In the event that an employee deceases in service without activating or uplifting the medical retirement provisions outlined in medical retirement terminal illness or medical retirement serious illness, the estate of the employee shall have no claim on the medical retirement provision.
