Notification, Proof and Payment for Sick Leave. The Employer must be notified as close as is practically possible to the normal commencement time of the day if you are not arriving for work. Sick Leave is conditional on you producing to the Employer evidence that would satisfy a reasonable person that the reason for sick leave is genuine. The Employer considers that a current medical certificate will usually satisfy this requirement. It is a requirement of the Employer that a medical certificate be produced after two (2) days of sick leave. However if sick leave is abused within the first 12 months of this Agreement being in effect employees will be asked to produce a medical certificate for every single day absence, or receive unpaid leave. You are not entitled to sick leave if your illness or injury is due to you engaging in serious and wilful misconduct or gross and wilful neglect in the course of your employment. There is no entitlement to a payment in lieu of untaken sick leave on termination of your employment.
