Office Atmosphere. The Board recognizes that employment equity means more than just the hiring and recruitment of under-represented groups. It also means creating an office atmosphere which welcomes these groups and encourages them to stay. To that end, the Board will develop procedures and policies to help create such an atmosphere. The station will also ensure - short of undue financial hardship - that the offices and studios present as few obstacles as possible to people with disabilities.

  • Workplace Safety Insurance 20.1 Each member covered by this Agreement who is absent on account of injuries received while on duty and who is receiving a pension, salary or wage award from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board shall be entitled to be paid the difference between the pension wage and salary award from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and his or her current net salary as long as such member remains in the employ of the Niagara Police Board. This shall be applied such that the combination of any WSIB salary or wage award plus the employer top-up shall, in total, equal the net pay of the member's current salary. The non- economic loss portion of any WSIB pension payments shall not be considered as being a salary or wage award, and hence shall not form part of these calculations. Any member who does not comply with the provisions of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act or Regulations thereto and subsequently receives a salary or wage award or an amount less than the prevailing maximum payable, due to such non-compliance, shall not receive from the Niagara Police Board the difference between the wage or salary award paid by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board and his or her current net salary. For the purpose of this Clause, net pay shall be the pay for the rank of the member as shown in Appendix "A" less those deductions required under Government Statutes, pension plans and as provided for in this Agreement. 20.2 Subject to the terms of this Article, each member covered by this Agreement who is injured as a result of carrying out his/her duties shall not be deprived of his/her vacations or statutory holidays as a result thereof, and shall accumulate such vacation credits and statutory holidays as he/she might otherwise receive. 20.2.1 Each member shall be entitled to accumulate the float time that he/she might otherwise receive for a period of three (3) months following the injury. 20.2.2 In respect of members who have been off work and receiving WSIB benefits for less than two

  • WORKPLACE SAFETY AND INSURANCE 41.1 Where an employee is absent by reason of an injury or an occupational disease for which a claim is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, his or her salary shall continue to be paid for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days. If an award is not made, any payments made under the foregoing provisions in excess of that to which he or she is entitled under Articles 44.1 and 44.6 (Short Term Sickness Plan) shall be an amount owing by the employee to the Employer. 41.2 Where an employee is absent by reason of an injury or an occupational disease for which an award is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, his or her salary shall continue to be paid for a period not exceeding three (3) consecutive months or a total of sixty-five (65) working days where such absences are intermittent, following the date of the first absence because of the injury or occupational disease, and any absence in respect of the injury or occupational disease shall not be charged against his or her credits. 41.3 Where an award is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act to an employee that is less than the regular salary of the employee and the award applies for longer than the period set out in Article 41.2 and the employee has accumulated credits, his or her regular salary may be paid and the difference between the regular salary paid after the period set out in Article 41.2 and the compensation awarded shall be converted to its equivalent time and deducted from his or her accumulated credits. 41.4 Where an employee receives an award under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and the award applies for longer than the period set out in Article 41.2 (i.e. three (3) months), the Employer will continue subsidies for Basic Life, Long Term Income Protection, Supplementary Health and Hospital and the Dental Plans for the period during which the employee is receiving the award. The Employer shall continue to make the Employer’s pension contributions unless the employee gives the Employer a written notice that the employee does not intend to pay the employee’s pension contributions. 41.5 Where an employee is absent by reason of an injury or an occupational disease for which an award is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the employee shall not be entitled to a leave of absence with pay under Article 44 (Short Term Sickness Plan) as an option following the expiry of the application of Article 41.2.

  • WORKPLACE SAFETY AND INSURANCE BOARD Clause 14.01 (a) When a probationary or regular employee, through employment with the Employer, suffers an injury or disability, or a recurrence of an injury or disability, the Employer shall pay the employee an amount, when combined with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board payment, equals the employee’s regular wage less deductions required by law, for a period of nine (9) months from the first day of absence. (b) Pending receipt of payment from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, an employee shall receive advances up to the amount of the employee’s regular wage rate, less income tax deductions and shall continue to receive their regular wage rate during the period of absence up to nine (9) months provided that: i. the employee will make reasonable effort to ensure prompt completion of necessary forms and information required to receive approval of Workplace Safety and Insurance Board payment; ii. the employee will be expected to fully participate in alternate work, if recommended, by the employee’s medical doctor; iii. the employee’s claim has not been disallowed by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, and; iv. the employee agrees in writing, to sign over to the Employer the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board payments. (a) The Employer shall continue to pay for a period of time not to exceed thirty (30) months from the first day of an injury or disability, the premium cost for health and insurance benefits as covered by Clauses 16.03 and 16.04. (b) Should an employee return to work from an injury or disability for a period of six (6) continuous months and subsequently suffers a recurrence of an injury or disability, then the provisions of Clauses 14.02(a) and 14.03(a) shall apply. (c) Notwithstanding Clause 14.02(b), if an employee having ceased to be disabled returns to work and again becomes disabled from the same or related cause within six (6) months, it would be considered as one (1) continuous period of disability as per Clauses 14.02(a) and 14.03(a). (a) For a period of up to thirty (30) months from the first day of injury or disability, the employee shall be eligible to return to their same position classification if capable of performing the required work. If unable to perform the required work, the employee shall be given all reasonable consideration for any available job for which the employee is able and qualified to perform. (b) Notwithstanding Part (a), if any employee’s position is declared redundant while on WSIB leave, the employee upon their return shall exercise normal bumping procedures as per Article 8.

  • Green Economy/Carbon Footprint a) The Supplier/Service Provider has in its bid provided Transnet with an understanding of the Supplier’s/Service Provider’s position with regard to issues such as waste disposal, recycling and energy conservation.

  • UTILITIES AND SERVICE 7.1 It is the intent of the parties that Tenant shall assume all responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Premises. Therefore, notwithstanding anything in the Lease to the contrary, during the term of this Lease, the following utilities and services will be provided on the premises: (a) Tenant will provide Electricity, water and sewer service, since the services are billed to the Landlord, the Tenant will pay a monthly sum ( ) subject to annual review based upon the average usage the previous year. (b) The Landlord shall provide heat to such extent and to such levels as, in the Landlord’s judgment, is reasonably required for the comfortable use and occupancy of the Premises. (c) Tenant will provide landscaping and grounds keeping to the common areas and Premises. 7.2 Tenant shall, at its own costs, provide custodial and janitorial service to the Premises. 7.3 Tenant shall arrange for and shall pay the entire cost and expense of all telephone stations, equipment and use charges, electric light bulbs and all other materials and services not expressly required to be provided and paid by Landlord pursuant to the provisions of this Section 7. 7.4 Tenant shall not, without the written consent of Landlord, use any apparatus or device on the Premises (including, but without limitation thereto, electronic data processing machines, punch card machines or machines using current in excess of 110 volts) which will in any way increase the amount of electricity or water usually supplied at the Premises. Tenant shall not connect with electrical current, except through existing electrical outlets in the Premises. If Tenant requires water or electric current in excess of that usually supplied at the Premises, Tenant shall first procure the written consent of Landlord for the use thereof. Landlord may cause a water meter or electric current meter to be installed in the Premises. The cost of such meters and of installation, maintenance, and repair thereof shall be paid by Tenant. Xxxxxx further agrees to pay Landlord promptly upon demand for all such water and electric current consumed at the rates charged for such services by the City of Xxxxxxx or the local public utility, plus any additional expense incurred by Landlord in keeping account of the water and electric current so consumed. 7.5 Landlord shall not be liable for and Tenant shall not be entitled to terminate this Lease or to effectuate any abatement or reduction of rent by reason of Landlord’s failure to provide or furnish any of the foregoing utilities or services unless such failure was due to the gross negligence or intentional misconduct of Landlord. Landlord shall not be liable for loss or injury to persons or property, however arising, occurring in connection with or attributable to any failure to furnish such utilities or services, unless and only to the extent due to the gross negligence or intentional misconduct of Landlord, and in no event shall Landlord be liable for Tenant’s consequential damages. 7.6 Landlord shall be responsible for repairs of the major mechanical system, such as the boiler, HVAC and electrical system, and “Building Envelope”, such as the roof, foundation, walls and other structural components of the Building. Tenant shall be responsible for routine operation, maintenance and repairs of the Premises. A major repair to a system is one which exceeds $10,000 in a twelve month period. In the event when a major mechanical or building system failure is too costly to be repaired, if so deemed by the Landlord, and if neither Landlord or Tenant is willing or able to remedy the situation, either party can cancel this Lease. 7.7 Landlord shall not be responsible for any loss caused to Tenant by Xxxxxxxx’s failure to make any major repairs. The District’s priority and scheduling may push these repairs out several years.

  • Governors and Regulators Whenever the Large Generating Facility is operated in parallel with the New York State Transmission System, the turbine speed governors and automatic voltage regulators shall be in automatic operation at all times. If the Large Generating Facility’s speed governors or automatic voltage regulators are not capable of such automatic operation, the Developer shall immediately notify NYISO, or its designated representative, and ensure that such Large Generating Facility’s real and reactive power are within the design capability of the Large Generating Facility’s generating unit(s) and steady state stability limits and NYISO system operating (thermal, voltage and transient stability) limits. Developer shall not cause its Large Generating Facility to disconnect automatically or instantaneously from the New York State Transmission System or trip any generating unit comprising the Large Generating Facility for an under or over frequency condition unless the abnormal frequency condition persists for a time period beyond the limits set forth in ANSI/IEEE Standard C37.106, or such other standard as applied to other generators in the New York Control Area on a comparable basis.

  • Electrical appliance safety The Hirer shall ensure that any electrical appliances brought by them to the premises and used there shall be safe, in good working order, and used in a safe manner in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Where a residual circuit breaker is provided the hirer must make use of it in the interests of public safety.

  • Utilities and Services Tenant shall pay all charges for water, gas, ---------------------- electricity, telephone, central station monitor, refuse pickup, janitorial services, and all other utilities and services supplied or furnished to the Premises during the term of this Lease, together with any taxes thereon. Said utilities may be supplied to Tenant in common with any other tenant(s) in the Building, or at Landlord's or Tenant's option, be separately metered at Tenant's expense. If separately metered, or if the Premises consist of the entire building Tenant shall pay all such charges directly to the charging authority when due. If not separately metered, Tenant shall pay its allocable portion based upon the ratio between the Premises Gross Leasable Area and the total gross leasable square feet of space served by the common utility. However, if Landlord determines that Tenant is using a disproportionate amount of any utility service not separately metered, then Landlord may either install a separate meter to measure the utility service, at Tenant's cost, or charge Tenant a sum equal to Landlord's reasonable estimate of the cost of Tenant's excess use of such utility service. Tenant shall reimburse Landlord on a monthly basis for landlord's cost in furnishing utilities and services to the Premises within ten (10) days after Tenant receives an invoice from Landlord and in no event shall Landlord be liable to Tenant for any such failure or interruption unless caused by the misconduct of Landlord. No failure or interruption of any such utilities or services shall entitle Tenant to terminate this Lease or to withhold rent or other sums due hereunder and unless otherwise specifically provided herein. Landlord shall not be responsible for providing security guards or other security protection for all or any portion of the Premises or the Property, and Tenant shall at its own expense provide or obtain such security services as Tenant shall desire to ensure the safety of the Premises and the Property.

  • Workplace Safety The parties to this Agreement commit themselves to achieving the highest possible standards of occupational health and safety including adherence to the consultative and issue resolution processes included herein. Participation in and support for building and construction industry initiatives to improve construction industry standards in occupational health and safety will form an important part of this commitment. Observance of relevant Acts, Regulations, and Codes of Practice are the minimum level acceptable to enable employers and employees to meet their responsibilities and to work safely and follow health and safety rules in their workplace. On all sites there will be developed a site safety plan and job specific ‘job safety analysis’ to identify and manage the risks associated with work on each particular site. Such safety plan will include suitable procedures for personnel/material access, and site evacuation procedures. The Incolink Safety Handbook ‘SAFE’ (as amended) is endorsed by this Agreement as a proper guide and reference source for safety management and control of risks. 1) The parties agree that the WorkSafe Australia Guidance Notes on Material Safety Data Sheets shall be observed at all times. 2) Hearing tests: Audiometric tests should be conducted within two months of a person commencing employment, and thereafter at intervals of two years.

  • Workplace Safety and Insurance Act It is understood that payment of income protection is for the sole and only purpose of protecting employees against the loss of income during time of such illness. Seniority and service will accrue and the Employer shall continue to pay its share of the premium for the benefit plans during the period of the income protection noted in this provision.
