Common use of Other Special Leaves Clause in Contracts

Other Special Leaves. An employee is entitled to a special leave in the following circumstances: (1) when complications during the pregnancy, or a risk of miscarriage, requires a work stoppage for a period prescribed by a medical certificate; such special leave cannot be extended beyond the beginning of the eighth (8th) week preceding the due date, at which time the maternity leave shall begin; (2) upon presentation of a medical certificate prescribing the duration of such leave, when a natural or legally induced miscarriage occurs before the beginning of the twentieth (20th) week preceding the due date; and (3) for pregnancy-related appointments with a health care professional, attested to in a medical certificate.
