General Leaves. When no other leaves are available, a leave of absence may be granted to an employee on a paid or unpaid basis at any time upon any terms acceptable to the District and an employee.

General Leaves. An ASF Member may request a leave of absence for valid reasons, including but not limited to the medical necessity of the ASF Member that is not covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), for an initial period not to exceed two (2) years. A request for leave shall be made as early as practicable and shall include a statement as to the purpose for which the leave is requested, including its value to the ASF Member and the university. The President shall consider the effect of such a leave upon the university, and a request shall not be arbitrarily denied. A general leave of absence beyond two (2) years may be granted at the discretion of the President. However, the ASF Member shall cease to accrue seniority beyond the second year.

General Leaves. 12.1.1 A leave is an authorized absence from duty for a specified period of time. 12.1.2 Unless otherwise indicated, leaves may be extended upon mutual agreement between the unit member and the District. 12.1.3 Unless otherwise indicated, members on paid leave are eligible for and retain fringe benefits of their position. Members on unpaid leave of absence of less than one month shall have the cost of the fringe benefits deducted from their payroll. Members on unpaid leave other than those on reduced load (Section 15.3.2) shall be eligible for and retain fringe benefits of their position, in accordance with the specific insurance programs and carrier requirements, by paying monthly, in advance, the full District and employee costs of such benefit programs. Members not electing to pay such costs of coverage shall have benefits rescinded until return from leave. 12.1.4 Unless otherwise indicated, time on paid leave shall be counted as time in service for all rights and benefits. 12.1.5 District may grant or deny requests for early return from leave or cancellation of approved leave. 12.1.6 A unit member may be granted a leave without pay for not more than twenty (20) assigned duty days in any one (1) year period, subject to the discretion/ approval of the Chancellor, or designee. A unit member may be granted leave without pay for any period of time upon recommendation of the Chancellor and subject to the approval of the Board.
General Leaves. A regular or term employee may request a general leave of absence without pay and benefits and without loss of seniority. The request, where practicable, shall be in writing and in advance of the leave. The request shall be considered on its individual merits and the President or his designate shall make the final decision as to the approval of the general leave. Approval of such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

General Leaves. Any employee who is tenured in the Brighton Area Schools, may be granted, upon request, a one-semester or one-year leave of absence. The leave will be without compensation and shall terminate at the close of the semester or school year. Upon return from leave the employee will be assigned to an open position they are qualified to teach.
General Leaves. 1. After being an employee of the District for one (1) year and passing the probationary period, an employee may request an unpaid leave of absence of up to one (1) calendar year in duration. If the leave is approved, a position in the District will be encumbered that is equal to the employee's current class status, hours of employment, and annual days of employment. 2. This leave is not intended to be used to accept a position with another employer unless that employment is determined to be as an “employee on loan” to that employer with a fixed return date.
General Leaves. The Board of Education may grant teachers who have completed two years of continuous teaching full time in the District a leave of absence for other purposes as specified herein. If said teacher has not yet attained tenure, upon return to the District said teacher shall be required to complete four consecutive years of service teaching full time within the District prior to attaining tenure as per section 5/24-11 of the Illinois School Code. Such leave shall be for one (1) full school year and shall be without pay and benefits, unless otherwise specified. Salary placement will be equivalent to that which the teacher was entitled at the time the leave began. All requests for leaves shall be made on or before March 1 covering the subsequent school year.
