Common use of Overtime for Hold Over Clause in Contracts

Overtime for Hold Over. An employee who is held over beyond the end of his/her regularly scheduled work shift shall be paid at the overtime rate for a minimum of one (1) hour. If the hold-over lasts longer than one hour, the employee shall be paid at the overtime rate for all such excess time in minimum increments of fifteen (15) minutes for all or any portion of such quarter-hour thereafter. The City shall use its best efforts under the circumstances to relieve the held over employee as soon as possible.
