Overview of Business Units. At the time of the Administrators’ appointment, ION Limited and its 29 subsidiaries (the "ION Consolidated Group") were organised for operational purposes as follows: The operational groups are described as follows: ION Consolidated Group Head Office The head office provided centralised executive and financial management, including corporate governance, secretarial, legal, financial reporting, taxation and treasury services. ION Energy Services Group Conducted operations in fuel distribution, refuelling services and fuel equipment manufacture. The distribution operations traded in all of the mainland States of Australia, with the head office of Cootes located in Dandenong, Victoria. The manufacturing facilities of Liquip were located at Smithfield, New South Wales and Sunshine, Victoria. ION Automotive Group The ION Automotive Group comprised the following automotive component manufacturing operations: ▪ ION Transmissions - a factory in Albury which manufactures transmissions and related products, with a research and development facility at Springvale, Victoria, and a warranty centre in South Korea; ▪ North Plympton - a casting foundry in South Australia, which manufactures motorcycle wheels and various automotive parts and a second factory performing chroming at Kilkenny, South Australia; ▪ Wingfield - a factory in South Australia, recently constructed to manufacture automotive castings such as cylinder heads and inlet manifolds; ▪ ION NZ operations– a factory located in Auckland, New Zealand which produces alloy wheels for US and Australian markets; and ▪ ION US operations - a factory under construction at Warsaw, Kentucky, USA intended to produce large diameter alloy wheels for SUV markets in North America. ▪ Altona - a factory site in Altona, Victoria which was under construction of the time of the Administrators' appointment, at which cast alloy engine blocks were to be manufactured.
