Paid Professional Leave Days. Each Full-time and Regular Part-time nurse shall be entitled to up to three (3) paid professional development days per calendar year or twenty-two and one half (22.5) hours. Casual nurses may apply for one (1) paid professional development day per calendar year or seven and one half (7.5) hours. The nurse shall provide the Hospital with as much notice as is practicable to ensure replacement staff are provided. Applications for Professional Development must meet individual learning goals as related to professional practice, and be approved by their Unit Manager. The nurse shall be advised, prior to taking any professional development days of any transportation, registration fees, meals, and other expenses that will be paid by the Employer. Where possible the knowledge acquired by the nurse will be shared in a manner agreed upon by the nurse and unit manager.
