Common use of Parent Leave Clause in Contracts

Parent Leave. An employee who becomes the parent of either a new-born or adopted child may take up to eight (8) consecutive weeks of annual leave or leave without pay. Leave taken under this section must begin no later than four (4) months after birth or adoption of the child. All accrued annual leave in excess of forty (40) hours will be taken prior to commencing leave without pay with the exception of the first 80 hours of approved leave without pay as defined in section 4.8.1 a. Whenever possible, parent leave shall be requested at least ninety (90) days in advance.
