Payroll Deduction of Fair Share Fee. 3.2.1 Sixty (60) days following the beginning of employment the Board shall deduct from the pay of members of the bargaining unit who elect not to become or to remain members of the Association, a fair share fee for the Association’s representation of such nonmembers during the term of this contract. No nonmember filing a timely demand shall be required to subsidize political or ideological causes not germane to the Association’s work in the realm of collective bargaining. Such fair share fee shall not exceed the dues paid by members of the Association who are in the bargaining unit. The Association shall notify the Board of the fair share fee amounts and any changes in the amounts in the same manner as notification of amounts and changes in the amounts of dues deductions. At the same time the Association shall provide to all employees in the bargaining unit a notice containing the amount of the fee and a statement that the employee may file an objection to the fee as assessed. Fair share fees shall be deducted from the payroll checks of the employees in the same manner as regular membership dues are deducted and forwarded by the Board except that written authorization for deduction of fair share fees is not required.
