If his/her shift is not available, the employee may exercise his/her seniority on another shift in order to remain in his/her classificationcancelled.

Personal Leave of Absence. All employees who a) A have maintained a satisfactory record of employment with the County for a period of at least one
(1) year; and b) exhausted all available personal leave and other leaves of absence available under the County's policies; and c) require time away from work for unusual or unavoidable reasons may request an unpaid personal leave of absence without pay for in accordance with this policy. Such leave shall normally be capped at thirty (30) days; however, the County may grant an extension in the event of extreme conditions when doing so is in the County's best interests. Personal Leave of Absence. a21.01 An employee may be granted leave on a case-by-case basis for other personal reasons not mentioned specifically herein. Requests for such leave will be reviewed by SacRT management for compelling and personal reasons, which necessitate the employee’s absence from work, and to determine that granting said leave will not impair the operational needs of the department.
21.02 Personal Leaves of Absence will be for no longer than 30 days, without approval from the Division EMT.
21.03 For SacRT to consider a request and make scheduling adjustments, a written request specifying the reason(s) for the leave and the duration must be submitted to the department manager/director as far in advance as possible. In any event, a written request of at least 5 days is required except where the circumstances of the request dictate otherwise.

Personal Leave of Absence. a(NON-MEDICAL) A The following additional standards apply to personal (non-medical) leaves of absence:
2.1 Employees shall be eligible to apply for personal leaves of absence once they have completed twelve (12) months of credited service with the Company. However, the right to take personal leave is not guaranteed. Frontier reserves the sole discretion to grant or deny personal leaves under this Article, after conducting a case-by-case evaluation of each request and the business needs of the company.

However, if the employee on a personal leave of absence without pay notifies the designated Company representative in writing that he is ready to return to work in his previous work location and classification, no additional help will be placed in that classification at that location for any valid reason may be granted for a period not to exceed thirty-five (35) working days, at the sole discretion of FTG, unless mutually agreed otherwise, provided such leave does not disturb the efficiency duration of the employee’s work area or leave period (up to a maximum of 6 months) unless the plantemployee on leave has first been offered reemployment.
b) Application for such leave must be made in writing to the Human Resources Department, at least two (2) months prior to the leave of absence and written approval is to be obtained from the Human Resources Department.
c) One (1) personal leave of absence per period of three (3) months may be authorized throughout the plant. The Plant Chairperson will be given a copy of any approved leave of absence.
e) The above guidelines may be modified by FTG when the reasons motivating the request of the personal leave there are outside the control of the employee or when two employees share the same home.

14.04 At the request of the Local Union, FTG may in its sole discretion grant a leave of absence to members of the Plant Committee to attend matters not necessarily in direct relation to the plantperiod, subject to receiving advance notice of at least one (1) weekhe will be terminated.
14.05 Where approved by a court, FTG agrees to participate in a Temporary Absence Program for those employees who have been convicted of a criminal offense.
14.06 The Chairperson of the Plant Committee shall be granted up to four (4) hours per day to confer with the Local Union or National Union on matters arising from this Agreement, paid for by FTG. Personal Leave of Absence. a) A personal leave Leave of absence without pay will be considered at the discretion of the Fire Chief. The parties have agreed that Pregnancy Leave and Parental Leave shall be administered in accordance with the Employment Standards Act and the following provisions; NOTICE A female FIRE FIGHTER who is pregnant shall providethe Fire Chief medical verification of said condition as as reasonably practicable and no later than sixteen weeks gestation. Upon receipt of medical verification of pregnancy, the Fire Chief shall arrange, at his earliest convenience, for any valid reason the transfer of such Fire Fighter to another Division within the Fire and Emergency Services. This employee shall perform such duties as may be granted for assigned and shall be paid her regular rate of pay while at work and performing such duties. LEAVE SUPPLEMENTARY UNEMPLOYMENTBENEFIT (SUB) Effectivethe date of approval by the Employment InsuranceCommission, an employee who is on pregnancy leave or parental leave as provided under this agreement and who is in receipt of Employment Insurancepregnancy or parental leave benefits pursuant to the Employment InsuranceAct, shall be paid a period not supplementary unemployment benefit. That benefit will be the equivalent to exceed thirty-five the difference per cent (3575%) working days, at the sole discretion of FTG, unless mutually agreed otherwise, provided such leave does not disturb the efficiency of the employee’s work area or regular weekly earnings and the plant.

Personal Leave of Absence. a(NON-MEDICAL) A The following additional standards apply to personal (non-medical) leaves of absence:
2.1 Employees shall be eligible to apply for personal leaves of absence once they have completed twelve (12) months of credited service with the Company. 14.04 At the request of the Local Union, FTG may in its sole discretion grant who has been granted a leave of absence of any kind, and who overstays her leave, unless obtains permission or provides a satisfactory explanation, shall be considered to members have terminated her employment without notice. To qualify for leaves of absence as stipulated above the Plant Committee employee must have completed six ( 6 ) months of employment with the Employer and it is expressly understood no benefit except as hereinafter provided shall accrue to attend matters or be paid to any employee on leave of absence. A full-time employee with more than two (2) years of service, who is granted a leave of absence, will continue to accumulate vacation and sick leave credits to a maximum of three months. If the leave of absence exceeds three (3) months such full-time employee shall accumulate no further vacation or sick leave credits but shall continue to accumulate seniority to a maximum of six ( 6 ) months. Part-time employees shall not necessarily accumulate vacation or sick leave credits but shall continue to accumulate seniority to a maximum of nine hundred (900) hours. Personal Leave of Absence. (a) A The Employer will consider requests for personal leaves of absences from employees who have at least twelve (12) months of continuous service. The Employer provides personal leaves of absence in certain circumstances for family emergency situations or highly unusual circumstances not covered by FMLA or other provisions of leave policies. Whether a personal leave of absence without pay for any valid reason is granted will be at the sole discretion of the Employer.
(b) Personal leave may be granted for a period of up to 12 weeks each calendar year or until appropriate benefit time has been exhausted whichever results in the greater period of time. Personal Leave of Absence. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. An employee may not engage in gainful employment during such leave if it is inconsistent with the purposes of the leave.
(a) A personal Leave of absence for Union business shall be given up to a cumulative total of thirty-five (35) days during the calendar year. Such leave shall be subject to the efficient operations of the Home. The aggregate total number of days of leave, including Provincial Committee Leave, will not exceed sixty (60) working days in a calendar year. An employee who is elected to a Provincial Committee of the Ontario Nurses’ Association, shall be granted upon request such leave(s) of absence as she or he may require to fulfil the duties of her or his position. Reasonable notice shall be given to the Employer for such leave of absence.
(b) Leaves of absences in relation to (a) above will be granted according to the following conditions:
i) Leaves of absence will not be requested for more than three (3) Employees in any calendar year;
ii) No Employee will be granted more than two (2) leaves of absence in any calendar year;
iii) Leaves of absence will not be requested for more than one (1) Employee from any department at any one time.
iv) Employees on such leave of absence will be paid by the Employer who will be reimbursed by the Union for the amount paid to the Employees.
(c) An employee who is elected to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Nurses’ Association other than to the office of President shall be granted leave of absence without pay. There shall be no loss of seniority or credits for the purposes of salary advancement and vacation entitlement, or other purposes during such leave. Requests for leave of absence shall not be unreasonably withheld, but it is understood that due consideration will be given to the efficient operation of the Home.
(d) An employee who is elected to the office of President of the Ontario Nurses' Association shall be granted upon request leave(s) of absence without loss of seniority and benefits. During such leaves of absence salary and benefits will be kept whole by the Employer and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for such salary and Employer contributions to benefits. The worker agrees to notify the Employer of her intention to return to work within two (2) weeks following termination of office.
(e) The Employer agrees to keep the pay with benefits and xxxx the Union for leave as delineated in this Article.
(f) An employee who is elected to a Provincial Committee of the Ontario Nurses’ Association, shall be granted upon request such leave(s) of absence as she may require to fulfil the duties of her position. Reasonable notice shall be given to the Employer for such leave of absence. There shall be no loss of seniority or service during such leave of absence. Leave of absence under this provision shall be in addition to the Union leave provided elsewhere in this Agreement. During such leave of absence, the employee’s salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Employer and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer in the amount of the full cost of such salary and applicable benefits.
(g) An employee who is elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator shall be granted leave of absence without pay for any valid reason may up to ninety (90) days per year. There shall be granted for a period not to exceed thirty-five (35) working days, at the sole discretion no loss of FTG, unless mutually agreed otherwise, provided such leave does not disturb the efficiency of the employee’s work area seniority or the plant.

e(a) The above guidelines Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be modified by FTG when granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the reasons motivating the request of the personal leave are outside the control of the employee or when two employees share the same home.
14.02 Upon an employee’s return from a leave of absenceprofessional development, the employee will be reinstated to his/her former classification and shift, if such classification and shift is still available, with the seniority accrued during such leave. If his/her shift is not available, the employee may exercise his/her seniority on another shift in order to remain in his/her classification.
14.03 Any employee with seniority, elected or appointed to a full-time position in the Local Union, National Union, Unifor, OFL, CLC elected or appointed to a full time government position will be granted a leave of absence without pay for the length of his/her appointment. During such leave, the employee benefits will cease but seniority will continue to accrue.
14.04 At the request of the Local Union, FTG may in its sole discretion grant a leave of absence to members of the Plant Committee to attend matters not necessarily in direct relation to the plant, subject to receiving advance notice of at least one (1) week.
14.05 Where approved by a court, FTG agrees to participate in a Temporary Absence Program for those employees who have been convicted of a criminal offense.
14.06 The Chairperson of the Plant Committee shall be granted up to four (4) hours per day to confer with the Local Union or National Union on matters arising from this Agreement, paid for by FTG. Any additional time required by the Plant Chairperson to deal with Union matters must be pre-approved by a Manager or a Supervisor. The Chairperson will receive a leadership premium of $1.00 per hour to his/her base rate of pay. Should the other Committeepersons require time especially as it relates to their her or his responsibilities under this Collective Agreement with the Employer provided it does not affect the staffing of the nursing home.
(b) Where an employee is required by the Employer to attend a course or workshop, the Employer agrees to pay any applicable fee and this Grievance Procedure, they must obtain prior approval the Employer agrees to leave their compensate such employees for the time off from work from their Manager or Supervisoras the result of attending the course.
