Personal Necessity. A member may use up to eight (8) days per year of sick leave earned under Item 7.1.1 of this article, at his/her election, for absences caused by personal necessity. Personal Necessity is defined as an emergency or personal matters which require the member to be absent from work during his/her regular work hours and which cannot be accomplished during the member’s non-work hours. The member will give his/her supervisor 24 hours notice regarding such absences, except in a case of an emergency. In an emergency when a member cannot give 24 hours notice, or when a supervisor has reasonable cause to question the validity of an absence, the supervisor may require the member to provide information as to the nature of the absence. In claiming personal necessity, the member is certifying that such leave was not used for any of the following:
