Common use of Professional Leave of Absence Clause in Contracts

Professional Leave of Absence. Employees shall be entitled to up to a one (1) year leave of absence for professional growth and development. Notification for such leave shall be delivered in writing to the Superintendent as far in advance of the expected leave date as possible or by June 1, whichever is earlier. The Board may grant requests for leave submitted after June 1. During this period of professional leave of absence, the employee may continue his/her insurance benefits at his/her cost. Upon return to service, the Board will pay its portion of the employee's contribution if the employee elects to purchase retirement credit.
